Floods, landslides loom over Palawan, west Visayas, Mindanao


MANILA, Philippines - Rains caused by an intertropical convergence zone may trigger landslides and flash floods in Palawan and the western sections of Visayas and Mindanao, state weather forecasters said Monday afternoon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Southern Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers. "Southern Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers while Visayas and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered raisnhowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the western sections of Visayas and Mindanao and Palawan which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers. Moderate to strong northeasterly winds will prevail over Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the south to southeast with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms. - GMANews.TV
