Arroyo to lead groundbreaking for Bulacan school

MANILA, Philippines - President Arroyo will go to Bulacan province Wednesday to join the first anniversary of the Bulacan Polytechnic College (BPC) and the groundbreaking rites for its new two-hectare campus. A Malacañang statement said the groundbreaking rites will take place in Grace Ville village in San Jose Del Monte City in the province. Bulacan Gov. Joselito Mendoza, Rep. Arthur Robes, San Juan del Monte Mayor Eduardo Roquero and BPC President Gerry Cruz are to welcome Arroyo when she arrives at the BPC grounds. Once there, Arroyo will lead the capsule-laying to signal the start of construction of the new BPC building. She will also view the scale model of the building. The BPC, owned and managed by the Bulacan provincial government, aims to provide access to technical courses to high school graduates and out-of-school youths from low-income families. It will also serve as an educational and training center offering technological and vocational courses that will complement other tertiary institutions in the province of Bulacan. BPC-SJDMC now holds classes at the Sapang Palay National Trade School Campus. Its enrollment of 320 is expected to increase to about 1,000 students when the new campus in Barangay Graceville is completed sometime next year. The two-hectare new BPC campus was donated by the National Housing Authority (NHA) to Bulacan under the Usutruct Agreement. Under the agreement, the NHA will allow the province of Bulacan to use the two-hectare portion of its 5.88-hectare property for the school building for fifteen years. - GMANews.TV
