Iloilo priest dies of heart attack

MANILA, Philippines — Shortly before he was to move on to his new assignment, a parish priest in Oton town in Iloilo died of a heart attack, an online news site reported Thursday. The News Today (www.thenewstoday.info) reported that Fr. Ramon Sequito, outgoing parish priest of Oton's Immaculate Concepcion Parish, was to transfer to Balasan in Iloilo. His death shocked hundreds of parishioners who were to join a caravan that will bring Sequito to northern Iloilo. Witnesses said Sequito suddenly stopped walking just toward the main vehicle of the caravan and fell. He was rushed to St. Paul's Hospital but doctors failed to revive him. Only in his 50s, Sequito served Oton for five years. Sequito was best remembered for his dedication to the Divine Mercy Prayer Group of Oton, Iloilo and the Dios Gugma Organization there. He was the group's spiritual director there. - GMANews.TV
