Fire razes 9 houses in Roxas City

MANILA, Philippines — Fire of still undetermined origin razed at least nine houses in Roxas City in Capiz province Sunday night, an online news site reported Tuesday. The News Today (www.thenewstoday.info) reported that the fire started at a row of houses made of light materials in Banica village in Roxas City. Fire Inspector Pancho de la Cruz identified the owners of the houses as:Robina Balasa, Norberto Balasa, Shiela Balasa, Robinson Balasa, Victor Balasa, Fredie Celono, Antonio Berondo, Ronald Cortez and Genilla Japsay. De la Cruz said the fire started around 11:20 p.m. in Banica village and crossed to Governor Atila Balgos Street. Firefighters placed the fire under control at 11:25 pm. and put it out at around 12:30 a.m. Arson investigators estimated the damage to property at P100,000. City mayor Vicente Bermejo directed social welfare officer Cynthia Besana to check on the victims. - GMANews.TV
