Report: Food poisoning downs 7 in GenSan

MANILA, Philippines - Year 2009 started on a sour note for at least seven residents of General Santos City, who were hospitalized after eating what doctors suspect was spoiled food on New Year's Day. Bombo Radyo reported that the seven, all residents of Sitio Blagan in San Jose village, were rushed to the General Santos City District Hospital for treatment. The victims were initially identified as Veronica Ansay, 3; Randy Ansay, 7; Raul Ansay, 7; and father Rommel Ansay, 29; Teresita Senon, 30; and children Maricel, 4; and Maribel, 7. Initial investigation showed the two families had eaten pancit and bihon (rice noodles) Thursday morning, before they experienced dizziness and stomach pains. The food had been part of the "leftovers" from the New Year's Eve feast the night before, the report said. - GMANews.TV
