‘NPA rebels’ bomb Globe transmitter in Sorsogon

MANILA, Philippines - Suspected communist rebels bombed Sunday a newly-constructed transmission tower of Globe Telecoms in Sorsogon City, a police official said Monday. Superintendent Eliacar Bron, spokesman for the Bicol Region Police, said the incident happened at around 7:35 p.m. at the Globe cellular site in Barangay Bibingkahan. According to the official, armed men believed to be members of a local command of the New People’s Army entered the unguarded compound of the transmitter. The attack slightly damaged the basement of the tower, Bron said, adding that the provincial police mobile group is now conducting pursuit operations against the attackers. - GMANews.TV
