BFP reactivates team for emergency response in Negros Oriental


MANILA, Philippines — During Fire Prevention Month, the Negros Oriental provincial fire marshal has reactivated its emergency response team to be mobilized during natural and man-made calamities. Online news site Visayan Daily Star (www.visayandailystar.com) reported the emergency team will be on alert around the clock, and complement rescue units in Dumaguete City and the province. The team will respond particularly to incidents like massive flooding wherein hundreds of victims were affected, the local Bureau of Fire Prevention said. Emergency response team leader SFO1 Ben Dan Villarin said the team recently team conducted trainings and workshop with local government units and non-government organizations in the province. It also conducted basic firefighting and rescue to 45 members of the Barangay Emergency Response Team to the geothermal host communities in Valencia town. Villarin said the group will respond to any emergency in case of disaster or calamity that might occur in their respective villages. - GMANews.TV
