Cop disarmed for 'molesting' minor

MANILA, Philippines — A policeman in Candoni town in Negros Occidental has been disarmed over allegations he raped a minor, an online news site reported Saturday. Visayan Daily Star (www.visayandailystar.com) quoted provincial police director Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix as saying rape charges may be filed against the policeman Monday. The 13-year-old victim claimed the policeman molested her twice and threatened her with a gun. She said the incidents occurred last year, and in February this year. Her mother said the policeman tried to amicably settle the case, but added they are determined to press charges against him. Felix said he has already instructed the police chief of the Candoni police station to fast-track their investigation.
