60-year-old British man shot in Aklan town - report


MANILA, Philippines - A British man was shot and seriously hurt in New Washington town in Aklan province Friday evening, a radio station reported on Saturday. Visayas-based Bombo Radyo said the victim, identified as Paul Anthony Roberts, 60, was brought to the intensive care unit of a hospital after he sustained a gunshot wound in the face. Police are questioning two suspects who were intercepted at a checkpoint in Pudiot village in Tangalan town. The two were identified as Warlito Andrade and Michael Bastes Jr. reportedly members of the urban guerilla hit squad RPA-ABB or Revolutionary Proletarian Army–Alex Boncayao Brigade. Both denied involvement in the incident. Recovered from them were a 9-millimeter and a 45-caliber pistol. The incident occurred at about 6:35 p.m. at Crossing Banga in New Washington while Roberts was in his Revo-type vehicle. - GMANews.TV
