Batangas cockpit guard shot dead

MANILA, Philippines — An unidentified gunman shot dead a security guard of a cockpit in Batangas province, a radio report said late Wednesday. Radio dzXL reported that the suspect shot Jerry Tuba, 44, from behind, hitting him in the head and the body. The incident occurred while Tuba was on duty at the San Juan Cockpit Arena at Maraykit village in San Juan town. Initial police investigation showed the suspect used a pistol to shoot Tuba, then fled aboard a motorcycle without license plates.
