Barangay chairman killed in Batangas ambush

MANILA, Philippines - Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a barangay chairman in Agoncillo town in Batangas province before dawn Wednesday. Radio dzXL reported that police are still investigating the motive behind the killing of Armando Mendoza, chairman of Barangay Pook in Agoncillo. Mendoza had just come from the town's 60th anniversary celebrations and was in his car when he was shot. He died on the spot, the report said.
