14 people hurt in Pampanga road accident


MANILA, Philippines – Fourteen people were injured in a road accident on the south-bound lane of the portion of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in Pampanga province. A radio report quoted officials from the TollwaysManagement Corporation as saying that the victims were passengers of an “assembly-type" Asian utility vehicle (AUV) that was traveling the NLEX in San Simon town. Initial reports said that the AUV was plying Kilometer 58 when its tire exploded and slammed into a barrier at the center island, hurting all 15 passengers. The driver and his 10 passengers are currently receiving treatment at the nearby Jose b. Lingad Memorial General Hospital in San Fernando town. The victims’ identities are not immediately known.
