LPA may bring floods, slides over South Luzon, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area near Palawan may bring flash floods and landslides over Southern Luzon and Visayas, state weather forecasters said Tuesday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that as of 2 p.m., the LPA was estimated at 190 kms north-northwest of Puerto Princesa City embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. "Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," Pagasa said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. The rest of the country would be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening, it added. Pagasa said light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast would prevail over Luzon and coming from the northeast to east over the rest of the country. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate. - GMANews.TV
