9 suspected robbers charged in Kalibo, Aklan

KALIBO, Aklan - Nine suspected members of a robbery syndicate from Metro Manila were charged by police after they were arrested at a checkpoint Monday night. Police identified them as Milquiades Mabulay, Rowena Villaniesa, Marjorie Zepratransmin, Olimpia Baybayon, Helen Palpiron, Ryan Cerso, Alberto Baybayon and Rolando Navarro. Navarro hails from Makati City while his companions came from Pandacan, Manila. "The Altavas PNP including our other police units have been alerted after the group declared a hold-up in a gasoline station in Kalibo. We commend our policemen for their immediate action," Senior Supt. Clarence Guinto, Aklan provincial police director, said. Seized from the suspects were P7,000 cash, six cell phones and four wallets. The group allegedly robbed a gasoline station and escaped in a rented L300 van. Police raised an alarm and the suspects were stopped at a checkpoint. The suspects were detained at the Kalibo PNP and will be transferred to the Aklan Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in Barangay Nalook, Kalibo. - Jun Aguirre, GMANews.TV
