32 hurt as bus erupts in flames in Digos

MANILA, Philippines — At least 32 passengers were reported injured after a bus they were riding burst into flames in the southern city of Digos on Friday afternoon. Bombo Radyo reported that the passengers thought a bomb had exploded and tried to jump out of the Tacurong Bus (MVL-769), which was heading for Tacurong City from Davao City. Initial investigation showed the bus had just left an overland terminal and was cruising along the national highway in San Agustin village, in Digos, Davao del Sur, when it suddenly caught fire. Fire Marshal Decemoso Remoroza said the passengers heard an explosion that he said may have been an electrical short circuit that caused the fire. But as the passengers thought a bomb had exploded, they tried to jump off the bus. Responding firefighters eventually arrived and quickly put out the fire. - GMANews.TV
