NPA leader’s family decries killing of 2 more members

MANILA, Philippines — Saying they are “getting smaller and smaller," the family of New People’s Army - Davao commander Leoncio “Kumander Parago" Pitao decried Wednesday the killing of two more family members by armed men in Davao del Norte last Saturday. Online news site Mindanao Daily Mirror (www.dailymirror.ph) said Parago’s relatives do not expect justice from government for the deaths of Evelyn Pitao-Dadula and her husband Roberto. “It’s impossible to get justice from this government ... Our family is getting smaller, we are being finished off one by one," Parago's brother Dario Pitao said in the vernacular. Unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead Evelyn and Roberto. Evelyn is the NPA commander’s sister. Witnesses said Evelyn was shot in the breast and finished off with a shot in the head. Her husband was also shot dead when he arrived at the scene. Only last March 4, armed men abducted Parago’s daughter Rebelyn in Davao City. Rebelyn’s body was found the next day, with marks of torture and rape. Kumander Parago accused military men for the death of his daughter but a task force, which includes military officers, found no evidence against them. Dario said no amount of investigation by government agencies can serve justice to their family. He added they do not believe in the sincerity of the investigation by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), which he said failed to establish the identities of the killers of his niece. - GMANews.TV
