7 alleged robbers killed in Antipolo shootout

(Updated 8:18 p.m.) MANILA, Philippines — Seven alleged members of a robbery and kidnap-for-ransom group (KFR) were killed in a shootout with elements of the Rizal Provincial Police in Antipolo City in Rizal province on Tuesday afternoon. In a text message to reporters, Region IV (Calabarzon) Police head Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad said the encounter took place about 1 p.m. in Barangay San Juan in Antipolo City. Five of the slain suspects were identified as Romeo Maniebo, Luisito Capistrano, Jeffrey Quidip, Romeo Malabag and Felipe Dalwampo. Recovered from the scene were 1 M16 rifle, a shotgun, 1 caliber-.45 pistol, 1 cal.-.357 handgun, 3 cal.-.38 pistols, and 1 hand grenade.
