Hanjin bus rams jeeps in Subic: 1 killed, 19 hurt

A man was killed and 19 others were injured after a speeding bus of Korean firm Hanjin slammed into two passenger jeeps in Subic in Zambales province early Wednesday. Radio dzXL reported that many of the injured in the 7 a.m. incident in Nagyantok village were employees of Hanjin Heavy Industries. The fatality was initially identified as Edwin Asuncion. Initial investigation showed that the driver of the bus lost control after the vehicle's brakes failed. In February, at least 18 people were injured after a speeding Hanjin bus carrying them plunged into a canal in Zambales province. At the time, reports said the driver of the bus allegedly tried to overtake two other buses while speeding along the Hanjin access road in Kawag village also in Subic. Early this year, executives of the company faced a Senate probe on the number of deaths of workers inside their facilities. Records at the Department of Labor showed that since 2006, over 4,000 accidents happened there, of which 19 were killed. - GMANews.TV
