The president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in Esperanza town, Masbate province was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday afternoon, an Army official said. Maj. Harold Cabunoc, public information officer of the Philippine Army's 9th Infantry Division, identified the fatality as Ali Arasado. He was killed about 3 p.m. in Barangay Masbaranon in Esperanza, Cabunoc added. The motive behind the shooting was still unknown as of posting time. The military and the police have launched pursuit operations against the perpetrators of crime.
