Phivolcs: Magnitude-5 quake rocks Surigao

A magnitude-5 quake rocked Surigao del Sur province in Mindanao Sunday evening, with state seismologists warning of possible aftershocks. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake was recorded at 5:50 p.m., with the epicenter traced to 38 km southeast of Tandag.

It said the quake was tectonic, and was felt at Intensity III in Lingig, Surigao del Sur; and San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. The quake was also felt at Intensity II in Bislig, Surigao del Sur; and Barobo, Surigao del Sur. While Phivolcs said there was no damage to property expected, residents should expect some aftershocks. - KBK, GMANews.TV
