Fire razes Cabadbaran market in Agusan del Norte

CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte - An early morning fire believed to have been caused by “faulty electrical wiring" due to alleged illegal connections totally destroyed the old Cabadbaran City Public Market, the City Marshall Office in its initial official report said. The fire that started at past five in the morning was declared fire out almost four hours later, Deputy City Fire Marshall SFO4 Dionesio Paduganan told GMANews.TV. No casualties were reported except for a few market sellers and owners who were bruised after they attempted to save their goods and other belongings. Initial probe results showed some 70 market stalls were totally razed by the fire while several commercial stores were also damaged, Fire Investigator FO1 Robert Paduganan told GMANEWS.TV in a separate interview. “As of now we are still finalizing the extend of the damages and the real caused of the fire as investigations are on going," Paduganan said, citing the report of initial estimates. Built in the 1960s, Cabadbaran Public Market was among the oldest and the biggest of its facilities in the whole of Agusan del Norte. Today, a modern public market and City Public Bus Terminal has been built and now fully operational. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
