Report: 3 hurt as riprap in Baguio collapses


Three people were reported injured after a riprap collapsed on their house in Baguio City due to heavy rains before dawn Thursday. Baguio City police said the victims, who were not immediately identified, were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. "May isang bahay, bumigay ang riprap at natabunan, pumasok ang bato sa bahay. Natabunan ang dalawang bata at isang matanda (The riprap gave way and rocks rolled down into the victims' house, burying two children and an elderly person)," an official of the Baguio City police said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said police and emergency medical teams managed to extricate the victims from their house along Marcos Highway. Initial police reports showed the riprap collapsed due to continuous rainfall that began at 1 a.m. "Ang tatlo dinala sa ospital, lumalakad na ang bata (The three were rushed to a hospital but the children were well enough to walk)," the police official said.
