4 killed, 2 hurt in Basilan ambush — police

Four people were killed while two others, including a 10-year-old kid, were wounded during an ambush by around 30 armed men in Basilan on Wednesday. The attack happened on a road in Sitio Stardust in Barangay Tubigan in Maluso town at about 2 p.m., Senior Superintendent Antonio Mendoza, Basilan provincial police director, said. The four fatalities were identified as Salsijan Ampuan Sali, 22; a certain "Ibang," 35; Weng Circulado, 35; and Solis Aspalun, 17. Wounded in the ambush were Hamid Hasilun, 45, and 10-year-old Nurjid Muhajilun. The two were undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital as of posting time. The victims were traveling en route to Cabcaban in Sumisip when the shooting happened, initial investigation showed.
