18 bricks of cocaine surrendered to authorities in Eastern Samar
Eighteen bricks of cocaine were surrendered in three separate instances to authorities in Borongan City in Eastern Samar after police conducted two days of search operations. Sixteen bricks were voluntarily surrendered by Edwin Doculan, 37, to the Borongan police station at 8:30 a.m. of Wednesday. Two bricks were also turned in by Edgar Beros, 50, a statement released by authorities said. At 11 a.m., two other bricks were given up by Victor Gana and Antonio Basilides Labay, the same statement said. These batches of illegal drugs were surrendered after local authorities held "monitoring and search operations" and continued "its drive against illegal drugs." These were conducted by the members of anti-illegal drugs special operations task force team, regional intelligence division, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 8, k9 team of the Philippine Coast Guard, the Borongan City police station and the Salcedo Municipal police station. The cocaine stash is now in the custody of Eastern Samar police provincial office for subsequent turn over to the Philippine National Police crime laboratory 8 for chemical analysis. Police officials urged local residents not to sell any illegal drugs they might recover because if they are arrested, the case that would be filed against them is non-bailable, the statement said. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
