CIDG catches ex-cop 11 years on the run
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested last Friday a fugitive police officer who for more than eleven years has been wanted for two counts of murder and two counts of frustrated murder. Anti-Organized Crime Division (AOCD) operatives arrested on April 15 murder suspect Federico E. Patag, a.k.a. Juan Tanio, 50, a former Senior Police Officer 1 (SPO1) of the Valenzuela Police department. Patag is suspected of murdering his wife Elena and a certain Allyson C. Dizon on October 9, 1999 in Malanday, Valenzuela City. Two children named Allan and Lalaine were also wounded in the incident. The murder suspect was the tenth most wanted criminal in Metro Manila and the second most wanted in the Northern Police District and yet somehow had still managed to evade capture all these years. According to CIDG director Police Chief Superintendent Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr., AOCD operatives led by Police Senior Superintendent Ronald Estilles arrested Patag based on a warrant issued by Judge Floro P. Alejo of the Valenzuela City Regional Trial Court, Branch 171. No bail was recommended. â AY/MRT/VS, GMA News
