Police: Most wanted person in Bulacan falls

Police on Wednesday arrested the supposed most wanted person in the province who was facing charges ranging from highway robbery to murder. A report from the Central Luzon Regional Police Office (CLRPO) identified the suspect as Sonny Balagtas. He was arrested at about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday at Gate 14 of the Subic Base Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in Subic, Zambales. “The successful arrest [was] the result of the continuing surveillance operation against all wanted persons as one of the main focus of our anti-criminality strategies to rid the province of criminals and misfits and bring them to the courts of law to answer for their crimes," the CLRPO said in a statement Thursday. Balagtas’ arrest was based on five arrest warrants issued against him for robbery, highway robbery, carnapping and murder. The warrants were issued separately from September 2008 to January 2009. All the charges against him were filed at the Malolos Regional Trial Court. Investigators are currently checking on Balagtas’ possible involvement in other criminal incidents in Bulacan. - KBK, GMA News
