May 19 a special non-working holiday in Butuan City


BUTUAN CITY — Malacañang has declared May 19 a special non-working holiday for Butuan City. The move came ahead of this city’s annual celebration of the Feast of its patron saint, Saint Joseph the Worker, according to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in the CARAGA Region. May 19 also marks the Balangay Festival here. According to the PIA, Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. signed Proclamation No. 166 which declared Thursday, May 19, 2011 a special non-working holiday. Proclamation 166 declared a no work day for private and government offices, including banks.
