'Freezer killer' turned over to Laguna police

A man suspected of killing and stuffing two of his women victims inside a freezer was turned over to local police officials in Laguna province, where the crime was committed. The transfer of suspect Ben Fajardo Cruz (alias Bayani Pagaduan Corpuz) to San Pablo City came a day after he was arrested in Isabela, with the help of a police informant. The informant, who recognized the suspect after seeing him on the news, has already been awarded the P300,000 reward, according to a report on GMA News' John Consulta. Cruz admitted to the crime, saying he hit his victims with a hammer after they refused to give his salary in advance. The suspect said he stuffed his victims inside a freezer and nailed its door before making an escape. After his arrest, Cruz likewise admitted to have been behind four other killings in Isabela and Nueva Ecija. Cruz was linked to the killing of Vilma Bandilao and Leticia Lupian, whose bodies were found inside a freezer in a warehouse in Miraflor Subdivision in Brgy. Del Remedios, San Pablo City. Earlier reports said Lupian was the mother of the person renting the warehouse while Bandilao was her niece. — Mark Merueñas/LBG, GMA News
