2 suspected robbers killed in Bulacan encounter


Two suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with police in Bulacan province Monday night, shortly after they allegedly robbed a gasoline station in the area. Police said the robbers engaged them in a chase that ended in a neighboring village in Pulilan town, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported Tuesday. Bulacan police chief Senior Superintendent Fernandino Mendez Jr. cited initial reports indicating the two suspects robbed a gas station in Cutcot village in Pulilan shortly before the encounter. An initial investigation showed the suspects were escaping aboard a motorcycle when a police team chanced on them, but they engaged the police in a chase that ended in Longos village. The two were killed in the ensuing shootout. They were not immediately identified. Recovered from them were two cal-.38 revolvers and an undetermined amount of cash believed taken from the gas station they robbed, the report said. — RSJ, GMA News
