1 person killed in Baguio City fire

One person was killed in a fire that razed a house in Baguio City late Wednesday evening, a police report said Thursday. Baguio City police inspector Karissma Sta. Juana identified the fatality as Dominador Kely, who was sleeping in his room when the fire broke out between 10 p.m. and 12 midnight at 342 Buat, Pinsao Proper in Baguio City. In an interview with authorities, the victims daughter claimed her father arrived drunk and went to his room to sleep around 10 p.m., adding that she even saw her father light a candle and then put it on top of a plastic cabinet. she said she also went to her room to sleep around that time. But later on, she was awakened when she felt hot and saw their house was on flames. She said she sought assistance from her neighbors, who immediately helped her put off the fire. But she said they failed to save her father who was charred beyond recognition. Sta. Juana said the case has been forwarded to the Bureau of Fire Protection in Baguio City. — LBG, GMA News
