NDRRMC names 9 dead in Compostela Valley landslide


The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council identified at least nine of the fatalities in Thursday's predawn landslide that hit a gold panning area in Pantukan, Compostela Valley province in Mindanao.
 
In an update posted on its website before 7 a.m. Friday, the NDRRMC also named eight of 150 missing and seven of 16 injured.
 
Among the identified fatalities were:
  • Romnick Diagdal, 22
  • Arlene Señoron, 23
  • Bea Tolentino, 6
  • Ivy Tolentino, 14
  • Sheena Mae Tolentino, 12
  • Susana Velasquez, 48
  • Ruel Zamora, 27
  • Rodel Taping, 29
  • Christopher Dayami, 7
Of the 16 injured, only eight were identified:
  • Jimboy Andao, 24
  • Leoncio Baclayon, 40
  • Edgardo Cacho
  • Clark Casera, 22
  • Melvin Cuadrado, 19
  • Arnel Nicolas
  • Moito Recaña, 44
  • Ronald Sanchez, 22
Eight of the missing were identified as:
 
  • Ruperto Velasquez, 49
  • Ramil Señoron, 21
  • Roger Diagdal
  • Micheal, 23
  • Jennievie Paumbat, 19
  • Man-ao Yogon, 22
  • Kiko Señoron, 52
  • Reglyn Evangelio, 25
The NDRRMC said the landslide occurred at 3 a.m. at a hilly portion of Sitio Diat 1 to Diat 700 in Barangay Napnapan in Pantukan town.
 
It said this was due to continuous rain in the last several days.
 
Several shanties and light material houses in the gold panning area at Diat 2 were wiped out, it said. –KG, GMA News
