2 suspected robbers killed, cop wounded in Cavite encounter
Two of at least three suspected robbers were killed while a policeman was seriously wounded in a predawn encounter near a hotel in Dasmariñas town in Cavite province Friday.
Cavite police chief Senior Superintendent John Bulalacao said they are also tracking down at least one motorcycle-riding suspect who eluded arrest.
"Nag-attempt (sila) pumasok sa Hotel de Gloria, ito ay hotel na tinutuluyan ng grupong Koreanong naglalaro ng golf," Bulalacao said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said the incident occurred at about 4 a.m. near the hotel in Langkaan village.
An initial investigation showed two of the men approached the hotel guards but the guards noticed they were carrying packing tape and firearms.
While one of the guards talked with the men, one of the guards, Emil Sarmiento, contacted police and sought assistance.
A team of plainclothes policemen that happened to be on an anti-drug operation in the area went to the hotel and accosted the men, who tried to flee.
But one of the fleeing suspects fired at the police team, hitting one of them. Bulalacao identified the wounded policeman as PO1 Richmond Aneco.
"Serious daw, sa dibdib tinamaan," he said.
Members of the police team fired back, fatally hitting the suspects.
"(Pero) ang nakamotor di pinansin, akala di kasama," Bulalacao said.
Bulalacao said they suspect the two slain suspects were not from the area. — RSJ, GMA News
