Fire razes 50 houses in Mandaue, Cebu

At least 50 houses were razed in a fire that hit a residential area in Mandaue City in Cebu province before noon Monday.

 

No one was initially reported hurt in the fire, which started at the house of one Marisa Dimalagan, radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate reported.

 

Firefighters rushed to the area to battle the fire, which started at 11:30 a.m. and reached the third alarm as of noon.

 

The residential area in Jagobiao village is near the boundary of Mandaue City and Consolacion town in Cebu, the report said.

 

Many of the houses there were made of light materials, the report added.

 

Arson investigators are verifying information that the fire started when one of the children in the area was playing with paper and set the paper on fire. — RSJ, GMA News
