VP Binay to visit flood victims in Mindanao
Vice President Jejomar Binay will visit Dapitan City in Mindanao on Monday to inspect the areas hit by flash floods last week. According to a news release of the Office of the Vice President (OVP), Binay will give relief goods to families affected by the floods. “We will check the damages in the area and see what the affected residents need. I have already instructed my office to prepare at least 700 bags of relief goods,” Binay said. The OVP said Binay will go to Ilaya village, one of at least 10 villages submerged in water after incessant rains poured into the city on Thursday night. At least 727 families were reportedly affected by the floods there. Earlier this month, Binay visited Guihulngan in Negros Oriental after a magnitude-6.9 quake rocked Neros Island. In Negros, the OVP sent 292 boxes of water each to the provincial government of Negros Oriental and the local government of Guihulngan. The OVP also distributed 50 sacks of rice in Guihulngan and another 15 sacks in Jimalalud. - VVP, GMA News
