Cops arrest suspect in killing of Cebu mayor's son

A suspect in the fatal shooting of the son of a mayor in Carcar City in Cebu province last May 13 was arrested in Bohol province Thursday.

 

Police presented to media in Cebu Thursday afternoon Jimboy Leo Lauron, who admitted to the crime, radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate reported Friday.

 

Lauron was tagged in the fatal shooting of Carl Vinson Apura, 24, son of Carcar Mayor Nicepuro Apura, during a disco concert last May 13.

 

The dzBB report said Lauron admitted to the shooting but denied he was a member of the Tau Gamma fraternity, a rival of the Alpha Kappa Rho where the victim was a member.

 

He was quoted in the report as saying he got into an altercation with the victim. Lauron said Apura got angry at him because he was better at dancing at the disco concert.

 

Lauron also said he did not know the victim was the son of a mayor.

 

Police said Lauron now faces murder charges for the crime. — RSJ, GMA News
