Five persons killed as train hits tricycle in Bicol


At least five people were killed after a Philippine National Railways train hit a tricycle in Iriga City, Camarines Sur in the Bicol region on Friday morning.
 
Radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported that two of the fatalities were killed on the spot while three died while being brought to a nearby hospital.
 
Sketchy initial reports indicated that the tricycle had at least 14 passengers at the time of the incident.
 
The police cited initial information that the tricycle was hit as it tried to cross the railroad track.
 
A separate report on Bombo Radyo said the incident occurred between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. on Friday at the railroad crossing at San Agustin and San Isidro in Iriga City.
 
PNR operation manager Constancio Toledano said the train, with 70 passengers, came from Metro Manila and was bound for Ligao City. - VVP, GMA News
