NDRRMC: Two people drown during Pampanga town fiesta
Two people drowned in Pampanga River in Apalit town as residents there were celebrating their fiesta there Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday. In its report, the NDRRMC said the two victims – Reinier Calma, 14, and Jovani Lucio, 20 – drowned in separate incidents. The NDRRMC said Calma, a resident of Purok 6 in Cansinala village, was swimming along the bank of the river in Cansinala village with friends at 1:30 p.m. He tried to swim across the river to neighboring Sucad village, but suddenly went underwater and never surfaced. In the second incident that occurred at 4 p.m., Lucio went swimming near the riverbank in Tabuyog village also in Apalit.
