43 Peñafrancia devotees hurt in bus accident

At least 43 devotees of Our Lady of Peñafrancia were injured after the bus they were taking to Bicol flipped on its side in Quezon province Saturday.

 

The SilverStar bus was cruising along the Maharlika Highway in Calauag town in Quezon when the mishap occurred, radio dzBB reported on Sunday.

 

The bus was headed for Naga City in Camarines Sur, where its passengers would take part in the traditional fluvial procession in honor of the patroness of Bicol - Our Lady of Peñafrancia.

 

Police are looking for the driver, initially identified as Antonio Baultro, who fled after the accident.

 

On Saturday, thousands of devotees took part in the yearly fluvial procession, considered the most popular religious festival in Bicol. — DVM, GMA News
