Romblon town mayor's son found dead in apparent suicide

A 16-year-old son of a mayor in Romblon province was found dead in Romblon town late Thursday, in what police believe was a suicide. Romblon, Romblon police director Superintendent Nestor Quilinguen on Friday said they have so far found no sign of foul play in the death of Pete Gerard Montojo, 16, whose body bore a bullet wound. "Ayon sa investigation namin nag-commit ng suicide," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. There was no information about the boy having enemies or a major problem, he said, citing a "suicide note" sent through through text to his classmates. "Paalam mahal kong classmates, maraming salamat sa inyo," Quilinguen quoted the boy as saying in his text message to his classmates. Also, he cited witnesses saying the boy was seen near a bridge in Romblon town. After a while, they heard a gun shot, prompting them to call in the police. The boy's body was found near the bridge, with a gunshot wound to the temple. Quilinguen said a hand gun was found near the body. He said the gun was licensed, but did not say to whom. — LBG, GMA News
