Armed men hijack truck with P1M worth of rice in Antipolo


At least two armed men hijacked a 16-wheeler truck delivering some P1 million worth of rice being delivered from Isabela province to Marikina City before dawn Thursday.
 
The robbery occurred along the highway in Barangay Mayamot in Antipolo City at about 2:30 a.m., according to a report by radio dzBB's Paulo Santos.
 
Josephine Gomez, the owner of the truck, was quoted in the report as saying the truck was carrying 850 sacks of rice from Isabela.
 
She cited initial reports from her employees indicating two armed men blocked the path of the truck (RDT-551) and drove off with it.
 
The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group has satrted a search for the trailer truck, the report said.
 
PNP officials are also coordinating with Gomez for further leads that could lead to the recovery of the truck. — RSJ, GMA News
