NDRRMC: Teacher abducted in Zamboanga City

Police and military personnel from the Task Force Zamboanga are conducting blocking operations to prevent the escape of armed men who abducted a school teacher in Zamboanga City Tuesday night. At least 13 unidentified armed men abducted school teacher Flordeliza Ongchua, 48, in Zamboanga City, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday. In its 6 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. at Purok 5 in Barangay Labuan. Citing initial information, the NDRRMC said Ongchua was with her helper at her kitchen when two of the suspects appeared and asked them where barangay captain Ronald Maravilla was. Growing suspicious, Ongchua ran to the bedroom but the men followed her and destroyed the door, then dragged her to the shoreline at the back of the compound. They also disarmed security guard Benjamin Titing of his M-16 rifle, and PO3 Romeo Quillo, who was manning a nearby police action center. The suspects and the victim then boarded a pump boat and fled. — LBG, GMA News
