10 more cops sacked over Aman Futures scam
Ten more policemen in Zamboanga del Sur were sacked from their posts for alleged involvement in the Aman Futures pyramiding scam, a police official said Tuesday. Senior Supt. Romeo Uy, provincial director of Zamboanga del Sur, said one of the sacked cops was reported to have been a ranking official of the Aman Futures, identified as PO3 Roderick Luna. The rest, he said, were moonlighting as personal escorts of some Aman Futures officers. He identified them as SPO1 Rey Amor Chang, SPO1 Quintin Adjun Yap Rasanting; PO3 Martin Patrick Neil Lasaca; PO2 Esmeraldo Quadalquiver, PO1 Roderick Yoyet Dumandan; PO1 Dominador Olive, PO1 Mark Burlat Mareojos, PO1 Mike Heres and PO1 Reynaldo Bocayong. “We are still conducting an investigation to determine their specific roles in the operation of Aman,” said Uy. The relief of the policemen, he said, is part of the investigation. It is in response to the numerous complaints they have been receiving regarding the alleged involvement of the 10 cops. Should their involvement in the pyramiding scam be established, the police officers would be charged administratively, with criminal charges likely to follow. Around 11 policemen were earlier sacked since the news of the Aman Futures’ P12-billion pyramiding scam broke out early this month. Those sacked include the chief of police of Pagadian City and the provincial director of Zamboanga del Norte. Meanwhile, amid reports of vigilantism involving the victims, Uy said they have already placed posters in various areas in the province urging the public to file a complaint if they have fallen prey to the scam. But overall, Uy said the peace and order situation in Zamboanga del Sur is manageable. — DVM, GMA News
