Bulacan province board member wounded in ambush
A board member of Bulacan province was wounded in an ambush between Plaridel and Balagtas towns while he heading for Metro Manila Friday.
The victim, initially identified as Mark Cholo Violago, head of the Association of Barangay Captains, was brought to the St. Luke's Medical Center.
Security was tight at the intensive care unit of the St. Luke's Medical Center where he was brought, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported.
Violago, son of San Rafael Vice Mayor Cipriano Violago, sustained gunshot wounds in the head, the report said.
An updated report Saturday said the Philippine National Police would not comment on whether politics was the motive for the ambush.
Initial investigation showed he was heading for Manila to have a checkup when he was ambushed. — ELR, GMA News
