NDRRMC: 22 families displaced by fire in Zamboanga del Sur


At least 22 families were displaced by a fire that hit a residential area in Zamboanga del Sur Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Friday. In a 6:00 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 2:14 p.m. at Purok Talisay in Poblacion village in Lapuyan town in Zamboanga del Sur. The NDRRMC said the fire started at the house of one Caridad Singol. "There are no reported casualties. However, 22 households were totally damaged," it said. The NDRRMC said 20 of the families stayed with relatives while two families stayed at the old town gymnasium that served as an evacuation center. Arson investigators are still determining what caused the fire, the NDRRMC said. - VVP, GMA News
