NDRRMC: 2 killed, 2 hurt in STAR Tollway accident 

Two people were reported killed while two others were injured following a vehicular accident along the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) in Malvar town in Batangas, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday.

 

In its report, the NDRRMC said that on Wednesday, a Mitsubishi vehicle caught fire after it slammed into a trailer truck along the highway's northbound portion.

 

"Consequently the truck broke down along the northbound lane of the highway's Kilometer 70, causing truck driver Angelito Cabadu to shift toward the center island. Upon collision, the Mitsubishi vehicle caught fire," it said.  

Killed were Dennis Baril and Riingdon Mulintapang, while injured were Resty Hontiveros and Dexter Pagcaligawan, the NDRRMC said.

 

Cabadu was detained at the Malvar police station, it added.

 

The injured victims were brought to the Damian Mercado Hospital for treatment. — RSJ, GMA News
