Skeletal remains dug up in Cavite massacre suspect's backyard

Skeletal remains believed to belong to a possible earlier victim of the man who massacred at least seven people in Cavite province last Jan. 4 have been dug up at the suspect's backyard in Kawit town.

Police are verifying if the skeletal remains are that of Teodulo Villanueva, supposedly a possible victim of Ronald Bae as early as 2003, radio dzBB reported early Friday.

Bae was gunned down by responding policemen after he gunned down seven people and wounded 11 others in a shooting spree in his neighborhood last Jan. 4.

Cavite police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group head Chief Inspector Reynaldo Magdaluyo said they unearthed the remains after getting information from Bae's companion, John Paul Lopez.

Lopez faces several charges for helping Bae during the shooting spree. Witnesses had seen him reload Bae's firearm during the massacre.

The dzBB report said Villanueva had been reported missing as early as 2003.

Police are to continue digging at the backyard to look for other possible victims of Bae, the report said. — RSJ, GMA News
