1 dead, 6 hurt as SUV falls into ravine at Dalton Pass

At least one person was reported killed while six were injured after a sport-utility vehicle they were riding fell into a ravine near the boundary of Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya provinces Saturday night.

 

Carranglan, Nueva Ecija police chief Senior Inspector Joseph Sta. Cruz said the incident occurred at Barangay Capintalan in Carranglan town.

 

"Isa ang patay at anim ang naitakbo sa Nueva Vizcaya ... Ang estimate ng kasama kong pulis 50 meters ang lalim (One was killed while six were injured. The injured were rushed to Nueva Vizcaya. Our initial estimate indicates the ravine was 50 meters deep)," Sta. Cruz said in an interview on dzBB radio.

 

He cited initial information the victims were aboard a Montero-type sport-utility vehicle that fell into the ravine.

 

The vehicle was heading south toward Manila when the incident occurred, he added.

 

"Yung SUV papunta south to Manila (The SUV was heading south toward Manila)," he said.

 

When asked if the victims were from the area, he said, "tingin ko hindi sila taga rito (I don't think they are from the area)."  — ELR, GMA News
