5 hurt in Lanao del Norte blast

Five people were reported injured in an explosion in Tubod town in Lanao del Norte province Monday morning, police said. "May limang nasugatan... kaninang umaga nangyari," Superintendent Ronnie Francis Cariaga, spokesman for police in Region 10, said in an interview on dzBB radio. "May naidala sa Lanao Provincial Hospital." A report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the incident occurred at 11:05 a.m. at Ysmael Restaurant at Purok G-A in Poblacion Tubod. It identified the five injured as:

Cariaga cited sketchy initial information indicating the explosion may have been from an improvised explosive device attached to a parked motorcycle. He said they are still verifying leads on the perpetrators and the motive. — KBK, GMA News
