Two cops killed in Iligan City shooting incident — police
Two cops were killed after a shooting incident in Iligan City Saturday evening, a police report said Sunday. Iligan City Police Office OIC Senior Supt. Cristeto Rey Gonzalodo identified the fatalities as PO3 Christopher Neniza and PO2 John Yoland Manatad, both of the ICPO. In a text message to reporters, Gonzalodo said the incident happened along Badilles St., Brgy. Poblacion, Iligan City, at about 10:10 p.m. The victims were on patrol when the still unidentified attackers shot at the victims' vehicle several times, Gonzalodo said, adding the suspects may have used a high-caliber firearm. Manatad was rushed to Dr. Uy Hospital while Neniza to the Mindanao Sanitarium Hospital, but both were declared dead by their respective physicians few minutes after they were brought in for treatment. Moreover, Gonzalodo said the firearms of the victims were taken by the suspects who fled on a motorcycle.
