Troops raid NPA lair in Camarines, kill 3


Three suspected New People’s Army rebels were killed by soldiers in a raid on the guerrillas’ hideout in Buhi, Camarines Sur on Wednesday, the Army said Thursday. Army spokesman Maj. Ernesto C. Torres Jr said the assault on the rebels’ lair by members of the headquarters service company of the 42nd infantry battalion took place at 4:10 p.m. in Barangay (village) Naburabod. The Army has yet to identify the fatalities. Seized from the slain men were two M16 rifles and a .38 caliber revolver with live ammunition. Torres said the troops under Second Lieutenant Pacudan raided the safe house after receiving information from villagers. Firefight lasted about 30 minutes, the military said, adding that the suspected rebels retreated dragging along their wounded comrades. Troops have launched pursuit operations for the rebels. No casualty was reported on the government side.- GMANews.TV
